sleepmakeswaves to tour with Karnivool & Dead Letter Circus in January

Australia’s two biggest progressive rock exports KARNIVOOL and DEAD LETTER CIRCUS have teamed up with post-rock trailblazers SLEEPMAKESWAVES for a massive Australian tour this summer.
The Polymorphism tour will kick off Jan 8th at the Palace Theatre in Melbourne, before visiting Brisbane, Coolangatta, Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong and wrapping up at a massive show at Red Hill Auditorium in Karnivool’s hometown of Perth on Jan 23rd.
Both Karnivool & Dead Letter Circus are touring heavily with new albums: Karnivool’s third album Asymmetry debuted at #1 in July, while Dead Letter Circus’ The Catalyst Fire was their second #2 ARIA chart placing. Having played a string of major European festivals earlier this year, Karnivool are currently touring Europe including sold-out shows in London, Brussels, Munich and Paris. Dead Letter Circus are now in the US, following headline dates and festivals in South Africa and Europe.
Sydney instrumental post-rock/prog quartet sleepmakeswaves have had an amazing run since the release of their debut album “…and so we destroyed everything.”  Over the past two years, their busy schedule has included 7 Australian tours, 2 European tours, touring the USA and playing SXSW, supports for 65daysofstatic, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Karnivool – and an unprecedented nomination for an ARIA Award in 2012. Currently in the middle of a mammoth 38-date tour of the UK and Europe, sleepmakeswaves will release their much-anticipated second album in 2014.

“We can think of no better way to kick off 2014 than to accompany our amazing friends Karnivool and Dead Letter Circus on a January Australian tour! Honoured to be joining such a lineup. Looking forward to seeing you again, Australia <3″

sleepmakeswaves announce Australian tour for June/July

Sydney ambient/melodic post-rockers SLEEPMAKESWAVES have announced a massive national tour for June & July. Taking in 6 states (and 1 territory) the ‘…and so we played everything’ tour will take the band’s epic and climactic live show around the country, in their only headline tour for 2013.

The shows follow a massive 2012, which saw them tour Australia, the US and Europe; and even an ARIA nomination for their debut album, “…and so we destroyed everything.”
Their jam-packed international touring schedule follows the success of their debut album which has been featured on national and international radio including triple j, the BBC and spending 7 weeks on CMJ’s Top 200. It was also named in year-end lists including Drum Media and Sputnik.
Most recently, the band have released a collection of remixes, featuring contributions from 65daysofstatic, Rosetta, Kyson, Tangled Thoughts of Leaving, Serious Beak, Atlantis, Glasfrosch and Klue. The album is cheekily titled “…and then they remixed everything”
with the remixes from Kyson & 65daysosfstatic featuring on Triple J, FBi, RTR, 4zzz, PBS and community radio nationwide.

The latest remix to hit radio is True Vibe Nation member Klue’s funky breakdown of ‘to you they are birds, to me they are voices in the forest’ which features the epic track converted into a danceable jam.

65daysofstatic release ‘One Time For All Time’

UK experimental rock legends 65daysofstatic have released their seminal 2005 record One Time for All Time in Australia, featuring signature tracks Radio Protector and Drove Through Ghosts to Get Here as well as hard-to-find bonus cut Asphalt & Trouble.

The record showcases the influential UK band’s unique combination of adrenalin-charged electronic rock with the pummelling build and dynamics of post-rock.

The success of One Time for All Time upon its initial release earned 65daysofstatic a personal invitation to tour with The Cure on their 2007-2009 arena tour around the world, and since then they have enhanced their incredible live reputation with hundreds of shows across the US, Europe and Asia.

The band recently announced their first ever tour of Australia, with full dates available here.

Tangled Thoughts of Leaving announced for Dunk Festival and confirm new representation

Perth experimental rock group Tangled Thoughts of Leaving have announced that they will be performing at next year’s Dunk! Festival in Zottegem, Belgium.

The alternative music festival is held March 29-31, 2013 and the lineup includes Maserati (US), My Empty Phantom (US), My Education (US), fellow Australians HEIRS and many more.

The festival will kick off Tangled Thoughts of Leaving’s maiden tour of Europe, with more dates and details yet to be announced.

Tangled Thoughts of Leaving’s latest album Deaden the Fields has seen the band develop a cult following worldwide. They have toured extensively across Australia during 2011 and 2012, including supports for Russian Circles, Boris, The Ocean, Dead Letter Circus, sleepmakeswaves, Grails and their own headline club tours with several sold-out dates in their home town of Perth.

The piano-driven progressive rock quartet have also announced new representation for Australia, with The Bird’s Robe Collective‘s Mike Solo (sleepmakeswaves, The Red Paintings, Pirate) coming on board the management team alongside Revert Entertainment’s Bradley Lindsay. Solo will also look after publicity for the band worldwide. Bookings in the UK and Europe will be handled by Belgium-based Frontal Noize agency’s Pieter Blomme.

Tangled Thoughts of Leaving will open 2013 by supporting 65daysofstatic (UK) at The Bakery in Perth on Sat Jan 5th, followed by a new release and national tour.

Personally, I consider TTOL to be one of the finest live bands in the country at the moment – it’ll be exciting to see the impact their live show has overseas. Significantly, TTOL and Heirs are only the 2nd and 3rd bands ever to play at Dunk Festival, after sleepmakeswaves’ co-headlining spot last year alongside 65daysofstatic, Pelican and This Will Destroy You. With PVT, Seekae, Meniscus and The Night Terrors also having toured Europe during the past year, it’s great to see Australian experimental music doing so well over there – we have some world-class talent at home, so get out and support them!

65daysofstatic release ‘The Destruction Of Small Ideas’ deluxe edition and Australian tour tickets on sale

UK electro-post-rock legends 65daysofstatic have followed the recent announcement of their first ever Australian tour with the news that their 2007 album The Destruction of Small Ideas will be released as a deluxe package, featuring a second disc of rarities and B-sides.

The album follows the recent release of the band’s latest record We Were Exploding Anyway/Heavy Sky and will be followed by deluxe releases of their earlier albums One Time For All Time and The Fall of Math in celebration of their first Australian tour.

65daysofstatic formed in 2001 and soon became known for their fearsome sound – a blend of live electronics, drum and bass beats and the pummelling build and dynamics of post-rock. They have shared stages with the likes of The Cure, Battles, and Metallica, and featured at the world’s biggest festivals such as Summersonic and Sonisphere.

While their records showcase their genre-bending experimental rock, their live show is a dynamic force that has made them one of the most popular instrumental touring acts in the world.

The Destruction of Small Ideas features the band’s hybrid sound, crossing indie, post rock, metal, hardcore and electronica, including a guest appearance from Circle Takes the Square.

65daysofstatic announce ‘Heavy Sky’ and release of back catalogue in Australia

One of the world’s most popular instrumental groups, 65daysofstatic, have announced the release of We Were Exploding Anyway / Heavy Sky, a 2 disc deluxe edition of their last studio album, featuring a guest appearance by Robert Smith (The Cure) as well as several previously unreleased tracks. It will be followed by the release of the band’s entire back catalogue in Australia, including their albums The Fall of Math, One Time For All Time and The Destruction of Small Ideas.

Formed in 2001 in Sheffield, 65daysofstatic quickly established themselves as one of the most influential post-rock exponents in the UK. Whilst their early EPs showed a band dabbling in electronica and dance-rock, the band was equally at home playing epic instrumentals and math-rock. The success of their 2004 debut LP The Fall of Math and the follow-up One Time For All Time earned the band a personal invitation to support The Cure on their 2007/08 arena tour around the world. Flowing into 2009, the band played to hundreds of thousands of people across the US, UK, Europe and Asia.

Their most recent records have seen the band shift into an electronic-based sound that has been compared to peers such as Battles and Aphex Twin. Straddling both rock and electronica, 65dos have created a hybrid sound that is truly unique. While their records showcase their ornate instrumentation and experimental sound manipulations, their live show is a rock and roll rave that has made them one of the most popular instrumental touring acts in the world.

Their latest, Heavy Sky, is a collection of tracks culled from the WWEA sessions, featuring previously unreleased material that again showcases their undefinable brand of danceable electro-post-rock. The presence of a remix contributed by Australian instrumental group sleepmakeswaves and the announcement that their entire back catalogue will be released in Oz, hints that the band is planning a long overdue trip Down Under…

“We Were Exploding Anyway/Heavy Sky” is out August 12th on Bird’s Robe Records.
