Toehider release new single ‘Smash It Out’ and tour dates

Melbourne wunderkind Mike Mills has done it again – another ridiculous Toehider single is out now.
SMASH IT OUT is a tongue-in-cheek rapid-fire blues-rock Queen-esque Muse-topping Darkness-compared Olympic-level 2-minute adventure.
The band will launch the new track on Friday August 24th at the Thornbury Theatre in Melbourne, before performing at this year’s Progfest event in Melbourne.
Toehider have also recently been announced as the support for hirsute rockers The Beards on their Tasmanian tour in November.
The single preceds the newest Toehider EP to be released later in the year, with further tour dates to be announced shortly.
Toehider’s debut album ‘To Hide Her’ was released in 2011 to wide acclaim and international airplay. Prior to that, Toehider released a whopping 12 EPs in 12 months, with tracks featuring on Triple J, Edge FM, RRR and more. The band have toured nationally in support of their releases, supporting Unitopia, sleepmakeswaves & Electric Mary.
SMASH IT OUT is available for free download from along with the tracks ‘I Must Say Yes’ and ‘The Most Popular Girl In School.’

The Red Paintings announce ‘Chinese Whispers’ Australian tour for September

Orchestral art rockers The Red Paintings have announced an intimate run of Australian shows for September, before heading to the UK and Europe for the first time in October.

The band will showcase songs from their forthcoming album, playing a series of small club shows in Sydney, Geelong, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth as well as co-headlining the Melbourne Progfest event.

Originally formed in Geelong, the band relocated to Brisbane, but have based themselves in Los Angeles for much of the past 3 years, working on their long-awaited album The Revolution Is Never Coming.
TRP were one of the first Australian indie acts to utilise the now popular crowd-funding concept, raising in excess of $150,000 in fan donations to fund their ambitious record.
The album will finally see a release date in 2013, with the band to embark on an ambitious world tour, spanning 5 continents and over 15 countries.
After several sold out national tours and performances at the Big Day Out and Great Escape, The Red Paintings rose to international prominence when they were hand-picked by Amanda Palmer to support the Dresden Dolls on their world tour of 2007, playing sold out theatres across Australia, the US, UK and Europe. Since then, TRP have toured across Australia and the US with Mogwai, The Posies, Alien Ant Farm, Atari Teenage Riot and more.

These Australian dates are the first since the band’s ‘Black Paintings’ tour in January and will feature a brand new stage show, including human canvases, live projections and painters.
