The Red Paintings announce new US tour dates supporting …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead

The Red Paintings have announced new US tour dates supporting seminal cult legends …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead.
Kicking off in July, the tour will see the orchestral art rock group returning to the US after a successful sold-out run of theatre shows with Mindless Self Indulgence earlier this year.
The success of that tour earned the band an invitation to join MSI on their massive UK & Europe tour in November & December, as well as a run of UK summer festivals including Y Not Festival & Rebellion Festival, creating a jam-packed international schedule for the Geelong-formed group.
The news comes following the recent international success of their ‘You’re Not One Of Them’ single & video, which hit #40 on the US FNQB sub-modern chart and is currently sitting at #90 at German college radio. With airplay including Australia’s Triple J and UK’s XFM, the track was also the #9 most ordered track for airplay this week through AirIt’s community radio NOW chart and also earned Feature Album status on Melbourne’s PBS radio.
Know for their incredible live performances, The Red Paintings have just wrapped up their ‘You’re Not One Of Them’ tour of Australia, the first of four incredible stage shows the band has build to support the release of their critically-praised debut album ‘The Revolution Is Never Coming.’

sleepmakeswaves announce Australian tour for June/July

Sydney ambient/melodic post-rockers SLEEPMAKESWAVES have announced a massive national tour for June & July. Taking in 6 states (and 1 territory) the ‘…and so we played everything’ tour will take the band’s epic and climactic live show around the country, in their only headline tour for 2013.
The shows follow a massive 2012, which saw them tour Australia, the US and Europe; and even an ARIA nomination for their debut album, “…and so we destroyed everything.”
Their jam-packed international touring schedule follows the success of their debut album which has been featured on national and international radio including triple j, the BBC and spending 7 weeks on CMJ’s Top 200. It was also named in year-end lists including Drum Media and Sputnik.
Most recently, the band have released a collection of remixes, featuring contributions from 65daysofstatic, Rosetta, Kyson, Tangled Thoughts of Leaving, Serious Beak, Atlantis, Glasfrosch and Klue. The album is cheekily titled “…and then they remixed everything”
with the remixes from Kyson & 65daysosfstatic featuring on Triple J, FBi, RTR, 4zzz, PBS and community radio nationwide.
The latest remix to hit radio is True Vibe Nation member Klue’s funky breakdown of ‘to you they are birds, to me they are voices in the forest’ which features the epic track converted into a danceable jam.
The aptly titled ‘…and so we played everything’ tour will also see sleepmakeswaves premiering a host of fresh new material, following intense writing sessions over the past few months. With alternating sets each night and a brand new light show, this will be the band’s only Australian headline tour of 2013 and comes ahead of further international touring announcements – and then finally, the recording of their much-anticipated second album.

Tangled Thoughts of Leaving announced for Dunk Festival and confirm new representation

Perth experimental rock group Tangled Thoughts of Leaving have announced that they will be performing at next year’s Dunk! Festival in Zottegem, Belgium.

The alternative music festival is held March 29-31, 2013 and the lineup includes Maserati (US), My Empty Phantom (US), My Education (US), fellow Australians HEIRS and many more.

The festival will kick off Tangled Thoughts of Leaving’s maiden tour of Europe, with more dates and details yet to be announced.

Tangled Thoughts of Leaving’s latest album Deaden the Fields has seen the band develop a cult following worldwide. They have toured extensively across Australia during 2011 and 2012, including supports for Russian Circles, Boris, The Ocean, Dead Letter Circus, sleepmakeswaves, Grails and their own headline club tours with several sold-out dates in their home town of Perth.

The piano-driven progressive rock quartet have also announced new representation for Australia, with The Bird’s Robe Collective‘s Mike Solo (sleepmakeswaves, The Red Paintings, Pirate) coming on board the management team alongside Revert Entertainment’s Bradley Lindsay. Solo will also look after publicity for the band worldwide. Bookings in the UK and Europe will be handled by Belgium-based Frontal Noize agency’s Pieter Blomme.

Tangled Thoughts of Leaving will open 2013 by supporting 65daysofstatic (UK) at The Bakery in Perth on Sat Jan 5th, followed by a new release and national tour.

Personally, I consider TTOL to be one of the finest live bands in the country at the moment – it’ll be exciting to see the impact their live show has overseas. Significantly, TTOL and Heirs are only the 2nd and 3rd bands ever to play at Dunk Festival, after sleepmakeswaves’ co-headlining spot last year alongside 65daysofstatic, Pelican and This Will Destroy You. With PVT, Seekae, Meniscus and The Night Terrors also having toured Europe during the past year, it’s great to see Australian experimental music doing so well over there – we have some world-class talent at home, so get out and support them!

Tour Dates (More TBA)

Saturday, 30th March

Tujiko Noriko announces Australian tour

Iconic avant-pop experimental electronica princess Tujiko Noriko is finally returning to Australia.

This time, the Japan-born, Paris-based artist is performing as “Tyme. x Tujiko” with Tyme., the leader of electronica, dub, jazz band “MAS”.

After 6 years of occasional collaboration, they recently released their first album “GYU” (Edition Mego).

Having collaborated with various artists worldwide over the past decade, now Noriko is aiming to provide more beat oriented, yet still very experimental, electro-pop. If you wanna dance, or sit down and listen, either way, it’s not to be missed!

65daysofstatic announce first ever show in Australia at Peats Ridge Festival

UK electro-post-rock titans 65daysofstatic have been announced for the 2012 Peats Ridge Festival, marking their first ever show on Australian soil.  They will bring in the New Year alongside John Butler Trio, Kaki King, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Deep Sea Arcade, The Herd and fellow UK musicians Krafty Kuts vs A.Skillz, amongst many others.

Over 5 albums, 65daysofstatic have established themselves as one of the most influential post-rock exponents in the world. Whilst their early EPs showed a band dabbling in electronica and dance-rock, the band was equally at home playing epic instrumentals and math-rock. The success of their 2004 debut LP The Fall of Math and the follow-up One Time For All Time earned the band a personal invitation to support The Cure on their 2007/08 arena tour around the world. Flowing into 2009, the band played to hundreds of thousands of people across the US, UK, Europe and Asia.

Their most recent records have seen the band shift into an electronic-based sound that has been compared to peers such as Battles and Aphex Twin. Straddling both rock and electronica, 65dos have created a hybrid sound that is truly unique. While their records showcase their ornate instrumentation and experimental sound manipulations, their live show is a rock and roll rave that has made them one of the most popular instrumental touring acts in the world.

Their latest EP, Heavy Sky, showcases their undefinable brand of danceable electro-post-rock and will be released as a deluxe package alongside their last studio effort ‘We Were Exploding Anyway’, featuring a guest appearance by Robert Smith (The Cure) as well as several previously unreleased tracks and a remix by Australian group sleepmakeswaves.

65daysofstatic will perform at the 2012 Peats Ridge Festival in Glenworth Valley, Australia.

General tickets go on sale at 10am Monday 20 August 2012 at

“We Were Exploding Anyway/Heavy Sky” is out August 12th on Bird’s Robe Records.
