Independent label Bird's Robe Records has announced 2 intimate end of year showcases in Sydney and Melbourne, featuring dynamic instrumental rock group SLEEPMAKESWAVES.

Set to take place on December 22nd at the Annandale Hotel in Sydney and December 23rd at the Curtin Bandroom in Melbourne, there will be limited tickets available. The shows will feature Sydney-based post rockers SLEEPMAKESWAVES, with support from underground legends MENISCUS and experimental four piece PIRATE. Melbourne's eclectic prog-pop sensation TOEHIDER will open proceedings. All acts have enjoyed significant success with new album releases this year.

sleepmakeswaves' debut album "...and so we destroyed everything" has seen their star rise rapidly, with continued Triple J and community radio play, invitations to play the Peats Ridge festival (NSW) and Dunk! festival (Belgium) as well as topping worldwide sales on Bandcamp just 1 week after its release. The band have toured extensively in 2011, supporting international acts including Mono and Russian Circles and headlining their own packed club tour. They will travel to Europe for their first international shows in 2012, capitalising on the extensive buzz following the album's release. www.sleepmakeswaves.com

Meniscus' debut 'War of Currents', has received positive critical reviews, with Drum Media proclaiming them "absolutely enthralling." A packed album showcase earlier this year at Sydney's TONE was followed by offers for international distribution through Oxide Tones (Germany) and local distribution through BRR. The Melbourne show will be the band's official album launch for 'War of Currents'. www.meniscusband.com

Pirate's "Left Of Mind" has cemented the saxophone-led group's position as one of the most fiercely experimental rock groups in Australia. The album's blend of technicality, noise-rock and experimental pop has resonated with an international audience, earning distribution through Just For Kicks Music in Germany and an invitation to tour with prog supergroup FloatingMe during October. www.facebook.com/piratewastaken

Toehider's album 'To Hide Her' follows a whopping 12 EPs released in 12 months by singer-songwriter Mike Mills. After selling out multiple pressings via pre-order, the album release was timed perfectly, coinciding with a personal invitation to tour with one of Australia's biggest prog rock exports UNITOPIA during September and October. Combining the power and precision of prog-rock with a pop sensibility reminscent of Queen, the band continue to attract praise both at home and abroad for their distinctive sound, as well as enjoying Triple J and community radio play. These shows will be accompanied by the re-release of all 12 Toehider EPs through BRR. www.toehider.com

Both shows will feature the bands performing both new and old material, showcasing their live performance and rounding off their Australian shows for 2011. Punters will be able to purchase copies of all new Bird's Robe releases on the night, including those from Squat Club, Mish, The Bird's Robe Collaboration Band, Captain Kickarse and the Awesomes, Ruins-alone, Vampillia, Anubis, Lander Configurations and more.

A limited number of presale tickets are available to the public until sold out.

Prog supergroup SERIOUS BEAK (featuring members of Adrift for Days, Squat Club, Slimey Things and Squid) are set to unleash their debut album on November 26th.

With a penchant for odd time signatures and unwieldy grooves, the beaked beast will deliver one of the most-talked-about live shows of the year.

Lending their talents in support by special invitation are prog rock giants PIRATE, whose debut album 'Left Of Mind' was released in September. The band have since secured European distribution, toured with FloatingMe and sleepmakeswaves and headlined their own shows across the east coast. One of Australia's most fiercely experimental live bands, they are not to be missed.

Also performing by special request are instrumental post-metal powerhouse DUMBSAINT. Their audio-visual live performance was a highlight of this year's Sydney Progfest event and has earned them supports with sleepmakeswaves and Tangled Thoughts of Leaving in 2011. Currently working on their debut album for release in 2012, the future promises to be bright for these dark instrumentalists.
