The Red Paintings announce new US tour dates, debut on Modern Rock & CMJ Charts

The Red Paintings have announced new US tour dates supporting 90s alt-rockers Spacehog this December.
The Australian orchestral art rock band recently released their debut album The Revolution Is Never Coming to rave reviews. Their single ‘Wasps’ has picked up steam in the US including the #1 most requested track at KFMA in Arizona for the past week.
The band is sitting at #91 on the Modern Rock radio charts and #158 on the CMJ Top 200 College Radio charts, with ‘Wasps’ on rotation at several stations across the country.
The Red Paintings recently made their television debut on AXS TV performing two tracks from The Revolution Is Never Coming including the single “Wasps” and “You’re Not One of Them”.  mtvU call them “dark, cinematic” with a dynamic sound similar in spirit to NIN and 30 Seconds To Mars. View the official music video for “Wasps” at:
Known for their visionary stage shows incorporating live art, human canvases, and theatrics, The Red Paintings are a multi-faceted genre-spanning act incorporating everything rock from alternative to punk to industrial. Ever since suffering a near-fatal seizure eight years ago, Trash McSweeney, the musical architect of The Red Paintings, sees color in sound, a condition known as synesthesia.
The Red Paintings kick off their UK & Europe theatre tour supporting Mindless Self Indulgence next week, before heading over to the US. The band will continue on the road through Christmas performing select dates in support of airplay. Additional dates will be announced, with the confirmed itinerary below.

sleepmakeswaves to tour with Karnivool & Dead Letter Circus in January

Australia’s two biggest progressive rock exports KARNIVOOL and DEAD LETTER CIRCUS have teamed up with post-rock trailblazers SLEEPMAKESWAVES for a massive Australian tour this summer.
The Polymorphism tour will kick off Jan 8th at the Palace Theatre in Melbourne, before visiting Brisbane, Coolangatta, Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong and wrapping up at a massive show at Red Hill Auditorium in Karnivool’s hometown of Perth on Jan 23rd.
Both Karnivool & Dead Letter Circus are touring heavily with new albums: Karnivool’s third album Asymmetry debuted at #1 in July, while Dead Letter Circus’ The Catalyst Fire was their second #2 ARIA chart placing. Having played a string of major European festivals earlier this year, Karnivool are currently touring Europe including sold-out shows in London, Brussels, Munich and Paris. Dead Letter Circus are now in the US, following headline dates and festivals in South Africa and Europe.
Sydney instrumental post-rock/prog quartet sleepmakeswaves have had an amazing run since the release of their debut album “…and so we destroyed everything.”  Over the past two years, their busy schedule has included 7 Australian tours, 2 European tours, touring the USA and playing SXSW, supports for 65daysofstatic, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Karnivool – and an unprecedented nomination for an ARIA Award in 2012. Currently in the middle of a mammoth 38-date tour of the UK and Europe, sleepmakeswaves will release their much-anticipated second album in 2014.
“We can think of no better way to kick off 2014 than to accompany our amazing friends Karnivool and Dead Letter Circus on a January Australian tour! Honoured to be joining such a lineup. Looking forward to seeing you again, Australia <3″

Toehider announce new single and tour with Devin Townsend (USA)

Melbourne prog-pop act TOEHIDER have released their new single ‘Whatever Makes You Feel Superior.’
The single follows the recently successful rock ode ‘Smash It Out’ and sees them take their epic insanity up another notch:
“This is probably the most over-the-top thing Toehider has done. More over the top than arm wrestling Sylvestor Stallone so hard that the bone pops out of the skin. More over the top than Orson Welles providing the voice to a giant robotic planet that’s like 400 times the size of a regular Transformer. Heavily influenced by the likes of The Darkness, Lionel Ritchie, Twelve Foot Ninja, Queen, and the melismatic Mariah Carey, this track is fun for the whole family.”
The new single comes with the news Toehider will tour with prog icon DEVIN TOWNSEND in October. The band will join the American legend (formerly of Strapping Young Lad) in Brisbane and Sydney.
Formed in 2008 by ex-Template frontman Mike Mills, Toehider have since gone on to tour Australia and share stages with artists as diverse as sleepmakeswaves, The Protomen (USA), Twelve Foot Ninja and Unitopia.
After the release of their Queen/Panic at the Disco inspired self-titled EP in 2008, singer/songwriter Michael Mills bypassed the “difficult second album syndrome” by instead releasing 12 albums in 12 months. The “12in12″ project was an unprecedented move that saw Toehider explore a vast array of genres and lay claim to being Australia’s most profilic progressive rock act, with no less than 15 releases in 5 years!

“The best Monday song ever. Yes, yes, I Must Say Yes.” – Zan Rowe, Triple J
“I don’t throw it about willy-nilly. Their stuff is BOSS” – Andrew Günsberg (Channel V)”I don’t ever remember being this intrigued, entertained and obsessed with lyrics before” – Mitch Booth, Metal Obsession
“…it was classic prog with a modern edge and fittingly, the band with serious chops did not take themselves too seriously” – Music Feeds
